I am currently in a PC rental because the connection at home is shoddy. It’s just half a block away, and this is how powerful their internet is. As much horsepower as a Ferrari 812, as much torque as a Cummins diesel engine. This is insane.
You might not see it, but I am definitely weeping.

Man this sounds oddly familiar.
In fact it feels like my internet has slowed down 50% since clicking on this post. I feel like AT&T is punishing me for even flirting with the idea of other ISPs, let alone listening to other people complain about other ISPs.

I work full time from home for a Fortune 50 company. I have 60Mbps internet, but work VPN throttles us to 3-5Mbps so that it’s “fair for every employee.”
Part of the backbone of the American economy exists solely on my desktop for hours at a time because of these transfer speeds.
Be afraid.

Verizon offers gigabit service at my house, but it’s 80 bucks a month instead of 40 for 100 Mbps. That’s more than fine for watching Netflix so I didn’t pop for the gigabit.

Yeah, for the most part, the average consumer doesn’t need absolute power.
400hp is good enough.

You could use an LS swap.

Amtrak would be proud.

Wherever you are, I’m moving to that place.
This is my office, and I’m hardlined

When Elon Mush is the evil overlord we will have internet speed the same as the power output of a model s.

Why, though? Those speeds I posted are about enterprise level. It’s a gaming house, that place, so there is a need for stable, fast connections.

So gigabit speeds max?

That’s impressive; I’m at a university, hardwired, in a recently renovated building, with cat6 cabling everywhere, and still this is all I’ve got. Now I’ve got to try this from the IT shop, to see if we have better speed over there. That will be interesting.

If Jalopnik is to be believed, you have more than enough horsepower. Torque is fairly adequate too.

Because I have never experienced those speeds before. Doubt i have ever experienced anything over 100 mbps before. I’m amazed an ISP even exists that can generate those speeds.

I pay $75 a month for 200mbps. I’ll switch with you.

Your speed is too slow.
